Welcome to Grade Two/Three!
I hope everyone enjoyed their summer and the last bit of warm weather. As we begin a new year, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Bobbi Larock and I will be teaching Grade 2/3 this year. I am truly excited to be part of both the Grade 2 and Grade 3 teams this year and look forward to getting to know all of my students, as well as parents and guardians.
The agenda is a great communication tool between school and the home. Please check and sign your child’s agenda daily. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child, or want to request a phone call, it can be communicated in writing through the agenda.
Class Website
I have created a class website which can be accessed through the school’s website or at blarock.weebly.com. Please bookmark my website to find information about upcoming events, agenda notes, links to education based websites, and information about our class and themes we are currently studying. I will post all other newsletters on the website starting in October. Please let me know if you require a hard copy. My twitter handle is @MrsLarock2. It is a private account and I require your twitter handle in order to accept you to the site. You can send this information in your child's agenda, if you wish to be added. Please inform me if you do not want pictures of your child posted. A technology agreement form will also be sent home for you and your child to read and sign together. Please return this as soon as possible.
Indoor Shoes/ Supplies
As the new school year begins, please ensure that your child has pair of shoes that can be used for both physical education classes and indoors. A ziplock bag containing extra clothing (shirt, socks) can also be kept in your child's bin at school, in case of emergencies. A box of kleenex would also be greatly appreciated. The student activity fee for this year is $25.
Homework
Homework information will be recorded daily in both the student agenda and on my class website. Your child's daily homework will consist of reading for 20 minutes each night, practicing their weekly spelling/word wall words and practicing mental math facts. In addition, I will be sending home a monthly quick math booklet that will be due at the end of the month. This will begin in October. This will allow for flexibility in completing homework as I am aware of how busy life can become.
Allergies
We have a number of students with anaphylactic allergies in our classroom. Please do not send any food items which may contain nuts (peanuts, cashews, almonds, walnuts, pecans, etc.) and sesame seeds for their safety and the safety of others with similar allergies in our school.
Birthdays
While I am aware that birthdays are very important, I kindly ask that no treats of any kind be sent to school. We have students and staff members with a variety of severe allergies (both airborne and ingestion). My primary concern is for the safety of all students and staff. If you would like to send something in for you child’s birthday a non-edible item would be best (stickers, pencils, etc). I thank you for your support with this matter.
I am very excited to work with you and your child this year and look forward to discovering new things together. Our Parent Information Night will be held on Thurs., Sept. 13th from 6- 7:30 pm. I will be discussing class information and routines in more depth at this time. Please feel free to contact me at school (613 825-3596) with any questions or concerns that cannot be dealt with in the agenda. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support. I am looking forward to a great year!
Kind Regards,
Bobbi Larock
